Double comparatives:  

Double comparatives are phrases commonly used in English to express increasing or decreasing returns. Double comparatives are often employed to underline the importance of doing or not doing a certain activity. Here are some examples of double comparatives:

The more you study, the more you learn.
The more time you take, the better the assignment your turn in.
The less money I spend, the less I have to worry about saving.
The less you worry about the others, the less they will bother you

worth 為形容詞，表「值得……的；有……價值的」，常見用法如下

1. be worth + N / 金錢　值得……的；有……價值的

To be honest, this problem is not worth your time and attention.

2. be worth + V-ing　值得（被）……

The interesting magazine is definitely worth reading.

3. be worth it　……是值得的

Though the journey was tough, it was really worth it.

4. It is worth one's while + to V / V-ing.　做……是值得的

At present, it may not be worth your while to invest / investing in the stock market.

worthy、worthwhile 亦是形容詞，表「值得的」，用法與 worth 有所不同

1. be worthy + of N（不可用於金錢方面） / of V-ing / to V

Few politicians are worthy of our admiration.

The arrogant man is not worthy of being / to be the president.

2. worthy前可搭配名詞，形成複合形容詞「N+worthy」（值得……的），如：noteworthy（值得注意的）、trustworthy（值得信任的）。

To be a good salesman, you have to be trustworthy first.

3. It is worthwhile + V-ing / to V.

It is not worthwhile pursuing / to pursue your dream at the cost of your health.

worth、worthy、worthwhile、deserve 的句型代換如下

 
be worth + V-ing
= be worthy + of being Vp.p. / to be Vp.p.
= It is worthwhile + V-ing / to V 
= deserve + V-ing / to be Vp.p.

The ancient castle is worth visiting.
= The ancient castle is worthy of being visited / to be visited. 
= It is worthwhile visiting / to visit the ancient castle.
= The ancient castle deserves visiting / to be visited.
